Preferably Completely under Water

Is sprinkling with baptismal water good or do you have to be immersed completely?

Luther:

I would like to see that the person being baptized is held completely under water. That is the original meaning of the word and also the content. I do not think that it is absolutely necessary, but it would still be great to do it in such a complete and perfect way because it is also a complete and perfect sign. So it is indubitably instituted by Christ.

Because the sinner has to be not so much washed, but killed, and to be completely renewed into a new creation in a way equal to the death and resurrection of Christ, with whom the person being baptized is attached through baptism and so also dies to himself and rises again.
